The US-based company Waymo has announced that its self-driving cabs will be on offer for use on London's thoroughfares starting next year.

London will emerge as the first European city to introduce an driverless taxi service, akin to those currently in use in San Francisco and four other American cities employing Waymo's advanced systems.

First Operations to Start with Trained Operators.

Waymo confirmed that its vehicles are presently en route to London and will begin operating on the city's roads in the coming weeks with trained human specialists in control.

Despite some concerning events, Waymo stated that statistics demonstrated that cars controlled by humans were involved in accidents that injured walkers 12 times more often than its driverless vehicles.
